Gloria (Parrillo) Carnevale, 99, a lifelong resident of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10th, at Brentwood Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Carmenuch and Adeline Parrillo of Johnston and sister of the late Marjorie Acciardo, Clara Altieri, Lillian Ruscito, Vito, Gerald and Donald Parrillo. She was the devoted mother of Flora Turchetti and her husband Bob, Judy Andriole and her husband Russell. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Michelle Gallagher (Billy), Toni Quinn (Justin), Danya Kelly (Scott), Tracy Howland, Melissa Zinni (Joe), David Arena (Nicole), as well as 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces who loved her dearly.
Gloria, known by everyone as "Mama," had a beautiful smile, a quick wit and unbelievable sense of humor. Gloria was known for not only loving life, the beach and Elvis, but also for being hard-working. She worked at several different jobs, but her fondest memories were the many years she spent at Douglas Drug. Everyone who met her instantly became her friend. She will be truly missed and will live on forever in our hearts.
Her funeral will begin Saturday, Sept. 16, at 8:45am from the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Bartholomew's Church, Laurel Hill Ave., Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 4pm until 7pm in the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are greatly appreciated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
