Gerald Lynch Obituary

Gerald H. Lynch, 85, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at home. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (DiRocco) Lynch for over 60 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Mary J. (Hanley) Lynch.

After graduating from LaSalle Academy, he joined the US Army and was stationed in New Mexico and Kentucky.

Jerry spent the better part of 35 years as an Insurance Underwriter, beginning his career at Providence Washington before retiring from Starkweather & Shepley.

Jerry’s true passion was gardening, and always looked forward to the warmer months when he could be outside for hours tending to his beloved plantings, flowers and yard.

Above all else, Jerry adored spending time with his one-and-only, Judy. They were inseparable and enjoyed traveling together, including trips to Mexico, Aruba, France, and their favorite spot, Las Vegas. Over the last 10 years, Judy and Jerry adopted Fort Meyers, FL as their winter getaway.

In recent years, he loved spending time with his daughter Robin, a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee and a Boston Crème doughnut, while listening to the soothing sounds of Goddard Park.

In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by his sons David H. Lynch and his wife Lisa Ladurantaye, Gregory P. Lynch, daughter Robin E. Ramos, brother Robert Lynch, PhD and his wife Lorraine. He was the cherished “Grampie” of Patrick A. Ramos, Sarah E. Ramos, Jackson H. Lynch, Gibson B. Lynch and Dezi J. Lynch.

His funeral will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Roman Catholic Church, 333 Sandy Lane Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, 72 Church Street, Cranston. Visitation is Friday, August 23, 2024 from 4 - 7 p.m. at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home.
