George R. La Plante, 76, of Warwick, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed for his loving soul and selflessness. He was man of great faith and a depth of kind-heartedness that is rare. He blessed all he encountered.
He is survived by his wife, Frances “Fran” “Pee-Wee” (Poli) La Plante, and children Irene Rocchio Leddy (Frank), Raymond J. Rocchio, Jr. (Dena), and John Rocchio. Also survived by grandchildren, Amanda Zonfrillo (Brian), Nicole Rocchio, Jack Rocchio, Julia Rocchio, Katherine Rocchio and Elizabeth Yeremian. His great-grandson, Cristian Zonfrillo and brother Emile La Plante.
He was preceded in death by parents Rosaire and Allice (Richotte) La Plante and sister Jean LaPlante.
He worked for 35 years at Soluol Chemical, but most enjoyed his years as a bus driver for special needs children at First Student Warwick.
Visitation will take place Friday, July 28, from 8am until 9am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10am at St. Thomas Parish, Providence with burial following at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
