Frank M. Mendella, 82, Case Ave., Cranston, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Louise (DeLuca) Mendella.
Born Providence, he was the son of the late Francesco and Elvera (DePretrillo) Mandella.
Frank, affectionately known as ‘Poppy’, worked as a maintenance mechanic for Rhode Island Insulated Wire for 30 years. He then retired as a custodian for the Cranston School Department. He was a dedicated parishioner of St.Mark’s Church, a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus - Father Donnelly Council #322, an 18 year volunteer usher with Providence Performing Arts, a die hard Yankees, Patriots, and PC Friars basketball team fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Additionally, Frank enjoyed cooking as he was known for his delicious pizza and antipasto. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, collecting baseball cards and tools, coffee with his friends, and helping anyone needing a hand.
In addition to his wife of 61 years he leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Stefan Regelmann; and was the grandfather of Benjamin, Samuel, Madison, Jeffery and Jack.
His funeral will begin Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mark’s Church, Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 8am until 9am.
