Frances Bailey Obituary

Frances L. Bailey (McMullen), age 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Philip Hulitar Hope Center in Providence, RI. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Mary (King) McMullen, and the sister of the late Phillip and Mary McMullen. She was the wife of the late Walter Bailey.

Frances will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Walter Bailey and Cheryl Andrade. Her beloved grandchildren, Susan Davis and her husband Michael, Laurie Smith and her husband Chris, Jennifer Bailey, Jessica McGuinness and her husband Jeff, Walter Bailey, and the late Michael Bailey. Her dear great-grandchildren, William Bailey, Melissa Bailey and her husband Anthony Santos, Jeffrey McGuinness Jr., Alicia McGuinness, Shilah McGuinness, Isabella McGuinness, Michael Davis, Raymond Davis, Catie Smith, Samantha Smith, and Paige Smith, and her great-great-grandchildren, William Bailey Jr. and Elizabeth Bailey.

As a child growing up in the Great Depression, Frances was instilled with a strong work ethic, the value of conservation, and most of all the importance of faith and family. These values carried on throughout her entire life. After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1941, Frances worked as a sales representative for the historic Providence-based retailer, the Outlet Company, for over twenty-five years. Due to her strong work value, Frances was proudly one of the last saleswomen remaining upon the store’s closure. She went on to become a manager at the locally known Peerless Department store in Pawtucket, until her retirement.

Frances was a devoted and faithful member of Trinity Assembly of God in Johnston, RI. Her passion and adoration for the Lord was contagious, and she was truly gifted at spreading the Word of God. She was a highly compassionate person, with a tender heart and soul that touched everyone that knew her. She was truly a blessing to her family, whom she loved dearly, and her many friends.

In light of the recent environment and for the safety of our friends and family, all funeral services will be private. Relatives and friends will be invited to a memorial and a Celebration of Life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Trinity Assembly of God, 2119 Hartford Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919. Please share any fond memories or messages at WoodlawnGattone.com
