Evelyne O. (Melfi) Henry, 102 passed away at her home in Cranston on Friday June 18, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Henry. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Ponticelli) Melfi. Evelyne, in her early years worked for Speidel and Quonset Point until she met the love of her life Bill in 1948. They married and opened Elmwood Cleansers in Cranston then Warwick until 1980.
Evelyne is survived by her two loving daughters Deborah Wilson and her husband Robert of Venice, FL and Janice Henry-Moon and her husband Michael Enos of Cranston whom she lived with. She was the cherished grandmother of Bobby, Chris, Trevor and Brianna. She was a great grandmother to 10. Evelyne was the sister of the late Emma Chiello, Olga DePetrillo, Mitchell Melfi, Mildred Melfi, Clara Campagnone, Agnes Castiglioni, Anthony Melfi and Raymond Melfi. She was also the sister-in-law to the late Lillian Croft, Nina McVey and Rita Holcomb.
Evelyne was active throughout her life and into her nineties in multiple clubs, softball, tennis leagues, bowling leagues, traveling Europe and her many cruise adventures.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
