Evelyn Votta, formerly of Eden Crest Drive, Cranston, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2023.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Votta, Sr. Born July 3, 1925 in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Perrone) Spinelli.
Evelyn lived in Providence until she met and married the love of her life, Anthony. Together they moved to Garden City, where she lived for more than 60 years. Evelyn’s career was in retail. She was a manager for The Outlet Department Stores and for Filene’s. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Evelyn will be remembered for her beauty and style, and her laughter, kindness and grace. She was the light of her husband’s life and the wind beneath her children’s wings.
Evelyn leaves her daughter and son-in-law Marianne (Votta) and Patrick Egan of Newton, Mass.; her son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Amy Votta, Jr. of Naples, Fla.; her three grandchildren, Anthony, Courtney, and Michael; and her sister, Dolores Spinelli of New Port Richey, Fla. She was also the sister of the late Carlo Spinelli.
Her funeral will begin at 9:15 am, on Saturday, February 18, from the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mark’s Church, 9 Garden Court, Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation will take place Saturday morning in the funeral home from 8:15 to 9:15 am.
