Eugene P. Lennon

Eugene P. Lennon, 93, of Cranston, R.I., beloved husband of the late Gloria S. (Brien) Lennon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 12, 2026. 

Born in Providence, he was the youngest of eight children of the late Thomas and Margaret (McKenzie) Lennon. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1951, proudly serving his country. In 1954, he married the true love of his life, Gloria, and was a devoted father to their five children. Gene and Gloria shared 70 wonderful years together.

For over 30 years, Eugene worked as a master toolmaker for Bulova Watch Company, and later at B.A. Ballou until his retirement. Always one to keep active, he continued to work diligently for his daughter’s family business well into his 80s. 

“Sage” was the beloved patriarch of his family. He took immense pride and joy in gathering with those he loved most, celebrating every milestone and special occasion in the family home he so cherished. Surrounded by generations of devoted family who loved and admired him in equal measure, he found his greatest joy in witnessing the life, laughter, and legacy that flourished around him. Throughout the years, Gene enjoyed playing cards with Gloria, solving crossword puzzles, and putting his remarkable mechanical skills to use fixing just about anything that needed repair. 

Eugene was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mark's Church in Cranston, RI. 

Eugene leaves behind a close-knit and loving family: his children, Michael Lennon, Karen M. Stein (Jeffrey), William E. Lennon, Eileen Lennon Smith, and Janice A. Lennon. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Matthew M. Lennon (Sarah), Daniel J. Lennon (Katherine), Stephanie A. Lennon, Sara M. Lennon, Bryan P. Smith, Emily E. Stein, Christina A. Smith, and Katharine G. Stein; and his adored great-grandchildren, Haley J. Lennon, Andrew M. Lennon, Ryan M. Curtis, Paige K. Lennon, and Isaac D. Lennon. 

Eugene was also the brother of the late Joseph, Stephen, Thomas, James, Raymond and Marguerite Lennon and Shirley Weakley. 

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, Cranston. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
