Elena Coccio Obituary

Elena Joan Coccio was born on January 15, 1997, and died March 1, 2024. If you’re reading this, you probably already knew that because of how many lives she was able to touch in a short 27 years. She was electric and word travels quick about electric people.

She leaves behind her loving and supporting parents, Edward and Liz, her siblings, Steve and Kate and Kevin and Ruth Coccio, her nephew, Beckett Coccio, and a legion of family and friends who will carry on her legacy for the ages to come.

ALS is a heinous and terrible disease. After being diagnosed in March of 2023, we knew our time was limited. Brave in the face of terminal illness, she helped a lot of us through it herself.

A fiercely loyal person, she found her joy in watching her friends thrive, spending time with family and making sure no one around her was having a bad time.

Her family will miss her sass, her humor, and her laugh most of all. The world will miss what could’ve been had such a wonderful person not been taken from us.

If we take anything from her loss, it’s to live every day like its New York Fashion week, hold the ones close to you closer, and if you can’t outlast you can always outwit and outplay. To the very end, she made us see the joy in our freedoms and I know she will guide us in seeing those joys in her wake.

If you weren’t lucky enough to have known her, know the world lost a force of love and kindness and generosity and we ask that you bring those qualities to the world in her absence.
