Eleanor “Ellie” L (Gallo) Sammartino, 88 years old, passed peacefully away on February 3rd with her loving husband by her side. She was born May 20th, 1936 in Cranston Rhode Island to the late Louis and Rose (Lombardi) Gallo. Ellie was a Cranston resident and business owner (Ellie’s Place), her entire life. She leaves behind her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Robert Sammartino, Sr. She raised two loving sons, Robert Sammartino, Jr. of Cranston RI and Anthony Sammartino of Scottsdale, AZ. She was blessed with four grandchildren who lit up her heart- Robert Sammartino III, Alexander Sammartino, James Sammartino and Samantha Sammartino. She also had six great-grandchildren that spread joy in her heart and home.
Eleanor enjoyed her time with family and friends most of all. She would do anything to see her family healthy and happy. She cherished the moments when surrounded by family and friends whether it be at home or at an event. She loved her weekend beach trips with her husband and enjoyed the Wednesday musical evenings at Garden City spent with their friends. She brought laughter to every gathering she attended. She was always surrounded by loved ones throughout her life.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, from 2pm until 5pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Her funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 10, at 8:45am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Matthews Church, Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
