Eleanor A. (Grasso) Spremulli, passed away peacefully on May 14. She was the wife of the late Joseph Spremulli, married 66 years. Born in Providence she was the daughter of Saverio and Frances (Vessella) Grasso. She lived in Johnston and Fort Lauderdale for many years.
Eleanor will be most remembered for organizing many social gatherings and trips throughout the years. She brought much joy to many people and was always the life of the party. She worked hard and as her husband Joe said, “Rome wasn’t built in a day and that’s because she wasn’t there.”
Eleanor retired from Providence Water in 1992. She served as President of the Young Pannese Women’s Auxiliary for 35 years and, under her leadership, she was able to raise money for many reputable charities. She spent her life helping others and encouraging others to participate in her many activities. She also organized the Auxiliary bowling league and enjoyed bowling with all the members. Also, she was an active member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for 35 years.
She is survived by her loving sons, Louis Spremulli and his wife Carla (Mazzarella) and Joseph Spremulli and his wife Judith (Ferri). Her Grandchildren Joseph John, wife Christa, Jennafer Spremulli May, husband Robert, and Matthew Louis Spremulli. She cherished her three great-grandsons, Milo John Spremulli and Marcus Joseph May and Lucas Benjamin May. She is survived by her siblings Joseph Grasso, Norma Avantino, and Carol Hines, husband Jim, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday, May 16, from 4pm until 7pm at "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with additional visitation Saturday morning from 8:30am until 9am. Her funeral will be held Saturday, May 17, at 9am at the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
