Eleanor (Moniz) Avella, 87, of Johnston, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Tuesday morning, April 25, 2023. She was the wife of the late Ralph Avella.
Born July 16, 1935, in Providence, Eleanor was a daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Banahan) Moniz.
Eleanor was a very nurturing woman. Nothing made her happier than being with her family. She was always there to offer a hand or to help care for an ill family member or aging parent. She was a lover of animals.
She leaves her daughter, Donna Avella-Capaldo and her husband David Capaldo; her four grandchildren, Kylie, Taylor, Zachary (Chelsey) and Brandon; and her great grandsons, Matthew and Landon.
She was the mother of the late Ralph Avella, sister of the late Virginia Renzi, and the companion of the late Vincent Zabbo.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Cedar Crest memory care unit for their loving care.
Her funeral will begin Tuesday, May 2, at 8:30am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 1, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
