Ediolinda Alvarado Duran, una mujer de calidez extraordinaria y amor inquebrantable, partió de este mundo el 4 de junio de 2026. El Señor la llamó a Su presencia a los 68 años.

Nacida el 15 de septiembre de 1957 en Guatemala, Ediolinda emigró a los Estados Unidos en la década de los ochenta, donde construyó una vida definida por la generosidad, la fe y las puertas abiertas para todo aquel que la necesitara.

Ediolinda deja atrás una familia grande, no por casualidad, sino por el desbordamiento deliberado de su amor. Le sobreviven dos de sus hijos biológicos, habiendo su tercera hija partido antes que ella. También le sobreviven una hijastra y un hijastro a quienes crió como propios desde pequeños, y otra hija a quien acogió en su vida y crió con la misma devoción que entregó a cada niño bajo su cuidado. Su amiga más cercana, a quien llamaba hermana, y sus tres hijas eran tan familia suya como cualquiera que compartiera su sangre. En total, deja seis nietos que conocieron el calor de su presencia. También le sobreviven sus tres hermanos, su hermana, y un amplio círculo de amistades que fueron, en todo el sentido de la palabra, su familia.

Para todos ellos, ella era Mamá. No como título, sino como verdad.

Por más de 40 años, Ediolinda trabajó en la industria manufacturera de joyería, entregando a su trabajo la misma fidelidad constante que brindó a sus relaciones. Tenía un don especial para la moda, amaba los tacones, y sentía una devoción particular por el color amarillo, que usaba con la misma naturalidad con que usaba su alegría.

No tuvo enemigos. No guardó rencor. Amó a las personas de una manera que pocos son capaces de amar, sin condiciones y sin límites. Recordaba cumpleaños, enviaba mensajes, hacía llamadas y simplemente estaba presente. Alimentó a los necesitados, cuidó a los enfermos, y sirvió fielmente en su iglesia como ujier, recibiendo a cada persona que cruzaba las puertas como si fuera esperada y amada, porque para ella, lo era.

Tenía un don natural con las plantas. Todo lo que sembraba crecía, todo lo que tocaba florecía, y su hogar y jardín reflejaban esa belleza. Amaba la naturaleza profundamente, y con igual pasión amaba a los elefantes, cuya presencia llenaba su hogar en forma de figuras que coleccionó y atesoró a lo largo de su vida.

Ediolinda fue un reflejo vivo de la gracia en la que creía. Era lo que se ve cuando una persona elige, cada día, amar como Jesús. Conocerla era ser amado. Perderla es entender lo que significa cuando la luz de una habitación se apaga.

Ella era el sol de la familia Duran. Era amarillo, de principio a fin.

Las visitas tendrán lugar el jueves 11 de junio, de 9:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m., en la funeraria “WOODLAWN”, ubicada en el 600 de Pontiac Ave., Cranston. El servicio funerario se celebrará a las 12:00 p. m. en la misma funeraria, seguido del sepelio en el cementerio North Burial Ground.

Ediolinda Alvarado Duran, a woman of extraordinary warmth and unwavering love, passed away on June 4, 2026. She was 68 years old.

Born on September 15, 1957, in Guatemala, Ediolinda immigrated to the United States in the 1980s, where she built a life defined by generosity, faith, and an open door for anyone who needed her.

Ediolinda leaves behind a family that is large not by coincidence, but by the deliberate overflow of her love. She is survived by two of her biological children, her third, a daughter, having preceded her in death. She is also survived by a stepdaughter and a stepson she raised as her own from the time they were young children, and by another daughter she welcomed into her life and raised with the same devotion she gave to every child in her care. Beyond that, her closest friend, a woman she called sister, and her three daughters were as much her family as anyone who shared her blood. In all, she leaves behind six grandchildren who knew the warmth of her presence. She is also survived by her three brothers, one sister, and a wide circle of friends who were, in every meaningful way, her family too.

To all of them, she was Mom. Not as a title, but as a truth.

For over 40 years, Ediolinda worked in manufacturing in the jewelry industry, bringing the same steady faithfulness to her work that she brought to her relationships. She had a flair for fashion, a love of heels, and a devoted attachment to the color yellow, which she wore as naturally as she wore her joy.

She had no enemies. She harbored no hate. She loved people the way few people are capable of loving, without condition and without limit. She remembered birthdays, sent messages, made phone calls, and showed up. She fed people, nursed the sick, and served her church faithfully as an usher, welcoming every person who walked through the doors as if they were expected and beloved, because to her, they were.

She had a natural gift with plants. Every seed she touched grew, every flower bloomed, and her home and garden reflected that beauty. She loved nature deeply, and she had an equally passionate love for elephants, whose presence filled her home in the form of figurines she collected and treasured throughout her life.

Ediolinda was a living reflection of the grace she believed in. She was what it looks like when a person chooses, every single day, to love like Jesus. To know her was to be cared for. To lose her is to understand what it means when the light in a room goes out.

She was the Duran family’s sunshine. She was yellow, through and through.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, from 9am until 12pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. A funeral service will be held at 12pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home with burial following at the North Burial Ground.
