Dorothy “Dot” (Rotter) Diaz, 92, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at home Sunday morning, Dec. 21, 2025. She was the wife of the late Frank Diaz.
Born Jan. 17, 1933, in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Flora (Robillard) Rotter.
Dorothy was a retired case worker with the Department of Human Services and had been a case worker at the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
She leaves her three daughters, Maryann Burghardt, Joan Dietz and Paula Mercurio (her husband James); her granddaughters, Jenelle and Alana; her brother John Rotter and her sister Anne D’Antuono; and Jim Moon, who held a special place in her heart.
She was the sister of the late Charles Rotter and the grandmother of the late John Burghardt.
Relatives and friends are invited her visitation on Sunday Dec. 28, from 2pm until 5pm, in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Her funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 29, at 9:30am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
