Donald J. Baffoni, 89, of Johnston, passed away, Sunday, March 29, 2026, with his family at his side at RI Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth A. (Furtado) Baffoni.
Born on his family’s farm in Johnston, he was the last surviving son of the late Joseph and Palmina (Malone) Baffoni.
Donald was the President and owner of Baffoni’s Poultry Farm in Johnston. He spent his whole life on that farm. Spending 7 days a week tending to the needs of his flock and of his loyal customers…especially around the Holidays.
Donald was a simple man…a man of a few words, but loved a good joke, a laugh and a drink. He was devoted as a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved tending to his vegetable garden and cooking. He was an avid baseball and hockey fan…the Yankees and the Rhode Island Reds were his teams. Donald also served with the RI Army National Guard.
Donald is survived by his three children, Beverly A. Keefe and her husband John, Donald J. Baffoni and his wife Camilla, and Robin E. Valenti and her husband Domenic; his 7 grandchildren, Donald, Adam (and Adrianna), Amanda, Brianna (and Mark), Domenic (and Melody), David and Danielle; and his great granddaughter, Serafina. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Ugo and Albert Baffoni.
His funeral will be held at 8:45 am Wednesday, April 1, from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory to Our Lady of Grace Church, 4 Lafayette St. Johnston, RI 02919 are greatly appreciated.
