Dolores M. (Scaglione) Petruska

Dolores M. “Del” Petruska, 89 of Johnston, passed away April 28, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert L. Petruska and the late Joseph Maggio. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Pasquale Scaglione, Sabatino Galasso  and Frances (Marcella) Galasso. Dolores Petruska grew up on Federal Hill in Providence with 8 brothers and sisters. Times were tough and people, at that time, learned the importance of family.  Relative, friends, neighbors all helped each other out through loyalty, hard work, sharing and caring.  She was raised with all these values including honesty, kindness, empathy, and thoughtfulness. She brought these values to each generation of family that followed her. It sounds trite, but she was loved by everyone who knew her, and to know her, was to love her. Your comfort was her comfort. We have lost a wonderful person, but look at what we have gained just being part of her life. She will be sorely missed, but remembered for all the love and compassion she shared with us. Dolores was a telephone operator at Rhode Island Hospital before retiring. She was a member of the Aime J. Forand  Tenants Association and a communicate of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. She was the beloved mother of Joseph Maggio and his companion Marilyn Daniels, Leonard A. Petruska and his wife Lorn, Linda Duhaime, Gail Luce and her husband Oliver and Doreen Picone and her husband Vincent. Step-mother of Carol Ann Lareau. Loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Sister of John Galasso, Frances Capozzi, Irene Gianfrocco , Carol Monacelli and the late Anna Rowan, Carmela Tortorella and Tomasina Scaglione. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Monday May 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Seating is limited, masks are required and social distancing will be maintained . Burial will be Private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
