David Langley Obituary

David Michael Langley, 66, of Providence RI, passed away on May 7, 2026, leaving behind a heartbreak that feels impossible to describe. To his family, he wasn't just a husband, a father or a papa--- he was their comfort, their laughter, their steady place in the world.

Born on November 27, 1959 in Portland, Maine, he lived with a quiet strength, a big heart, and a loyalty that everyone around him felt. He was a proud graduate of Bentley College, where he earned a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame --- a reflection of his talent, discipline, and the fire he carried both on and off the ice. The friendships he made there became lifelong bonds, brothers who stayed by his side.

34 years married and 42 total years together, he shared a deep unwavering love with his wife RoseMarie. Together they raised three children, who adored him endlessly, and he was the beloved "Papa" to two grandchildren, with one more on the way -- a joy he was so excited to welcome.

He was retired and spending his days surrounded by the people he loved. He found peace in the simple things that made life feel full: his yard, the place he took pride in, cared for, and made beautiful with his hands. And always-- always-- his cup of ice, the small daily comfort that was so perfectly him. He loved New England sports with a passion that never faded, and the sound track of his life The Rolling Stones. Their music wasn't just something he played, it was something he lived. It was energy, nostalgia, joy, and a piece of his soul that will echo forever in the memories of those who loved him.

He was the man who walked through the door with a newspaper, Cumberland Farms empanadas, and a joke ready to make everyone smile. Known to many as “Langer,” he treated everyone he met with kindness and respect. His sense of humor and unforgettable laugh could light up a room and make even the hardest days feel lighter. The man whose presence made people feel safe without him ever needing to say a word. The man whose love was steady, unconditional and always felt.

He is survived by his wife RoseMarie Langley; his children Marissa, Monika and son in law Nathaniel, Brandon and daughter in law Eloisa; his grandchildren LeviRose Rye, and Roman Julius; and a wide circle of family and friends who cherished him. He is preceded in death by his father David Michael Langley and his mother Jane (Sullivan).  He will be remembered as the best dad, the best papa, and the heart of his family. His absence is immeasurable but so is the love he leaves behind. His laughter, his music, his stories, his strength--- they will guide his family forever.

To infinity and beyond.

“Tears must be cried. Let's do some living after we die. Wild horses couldn't drag me away. Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day”
