Claire E. Benell

Claire E. Benell, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in Coppell, Texas. She had moved there only 2 weeks earlier to be closer to her son and granddaughter.  Claire is survived by her son, Mark LaChapelle of Grapevine, Texas, Sister, Phyllis Church of Coventry, Nephew Patrick Kelley of Falmouth, Maine, and Nieces Sharon Kelley of Warwick, and Erin Kelley O’Connor of Sterling, Massachusetts, and Granddaughter, Lauren LaChapelle of Carrollton, Texas.

Claire was a loving wife to her beloved husband, Frank R. Benell, Jr. who passed away in January of 2018.  She was loved by her family, and her quick wit and easy smile will be missed by all who met her.

She was born in Providence to parents Roland and Estelle Lavallee, grew up in Pawtucket before moving to Cranston, then Providence, where she lived with Frank above the family business on Federal Hill for many years. 

Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, April, 24th at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., Providence, RI on Monday, April 25th at 10:00 am, with interment to follow at St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church St., in Cranston.
