Carole (McKenna) Harrington, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Born on Christmas morning in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Murphy) McKenna.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Karen Bateson and her husband Scott of East Greenwich and Susan Harrington of Cranston. Carole was the beloved grandmother of Caroline Tate (Raymund), Sarah Bushway (Cameron), and Elizabeth Edwards (Michael). She was also the great-grandmother of James, William and Anne, with a fourth great-grandchild on the way. Carole was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Souther, Elizabeth Gregory and Joseph McKenna.
Carole was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart and St. Xavier’s Academy. A longtime resident of Cranston, she was known for her quick wit, sense of style, and deep pride in her Irish heritage. She enjoyed rooting for the New England Patriots and dinners with her wonderful circle of friends. Above all, Carole treasured her family and cherished every moment spent as a grandmother. Her love, warmth, and devotion will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Carole’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Robert’s Health Center for the care and compassion they provided.
Following Carole’s expressed wishes, her funeral with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery was private.
