Carmela "Camie" Del Santo Obituary

Carmela R. “Camie” (Tudino) Del Santo, 83, of Sharon Street, Providence, died August 1, 2024, at the Elmhurst Rehabilitation Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was the widow of Thomas J. Del Santo Sr., her husband of 42 years until his death in 2002. Born in Providence, she was the only daughter of Raymond and Susan Tudino.

She was a 1960 graduate of Bryant College.

Camie was the longtime Office Manager for Dr. Joseph Izzi, where she worked until her illness in 2022.

Camie was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and after the passing of her beloved husband Tom, Camie dedicated her life to her family, especially her grandchildren Alyssa and Nicholas.

Camie enjoyed traveling with family and friends, visiting places like Italy, Monaco, Bermuda, Disney World, and Las Vegas. She especially enjoyed trips to New York City at Christmas Time. She also loved the theater and enjoyed attending Broadway plays.

Camie also enjoyed playing golf. She was a member at Middlebrook Country Club and played in several ladies tournaments around the state. After her husband’s passing, for 10 years she organized an annual memorial golf tournament in his honor, using the proceeds to award approximately $20,000 in scholarships to graduating high school students in Rhode Island and Connecticut. True to her powerful spirit and independence, Camie also held a private pilot’s license for many years. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church.

Camie leaves 2 sons, Thomas. J. “T.J.” Del Santo Jr. and his wife Alicia of Bristol, Stephen R. Del Santo and his wife Diana of Providence, and 2 grandchildren, Alyssa R. Del Santo and Nicholas Del Santo, also of Providence.
