Beulah M. (Bamford) Fitzgerald, also known as “Mary,” 79, of Johnston, RI, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Fitzgerald for 54 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Everett J. Bamford and Beulah (England) Bamford. Beulah worked as a bus driver for Cranston Public Schools until her retirement in 2010 and was the former owner of Fitzgerald Bus Company.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Robert Fitzgerald and his wife Roberta of Cranston, Melissa Polofsky and her husband Brett of Johnston, and Tammy Sapp of Ohio, as well as her late daughter Patricia Phelps. She was the beloved sister of Patricia Lane and the late Marjorie Ewing and Bruce Bamford. She was also the cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She cherished the time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, as well as engaging in activities such as visiting the casino, playing bingo, and shopping with her daughter.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4pm until 7pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, where a funeral service will begin at 10am, Friday, Nov. 22. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery.
