Arthur N. Coppola, Jr. died peacefully on Friday morning May 23, 2025, just a few weeks shy of his 99th birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Angela (Matarese) Coppola for 62 years. Born in Providence RI on June 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Arthur N. Coppola and Victoria (Jacobellis) Coppola.
He leaves his sister Beatrice McCarthy, sister-in-law Norma Kacen, four nieces, Marilyn Coppola, Debra Coppola, Maureen Fogarty and Karen Musumeci, one nephew Michael Coppola, seven great nieces and nephews, five great-great nieces and nephews and a cousin Joseph Abbate.
He was the brother of the late Rudolph Coppola and uncle of the late Arthur (Arturo) Coppola and James McCarthy Jr.
Mr. Coppola was a United States Army veteran and a graduate of Bryant University. He worked for many years in the family business, Modern Floors. In his later years he worked at Filenes in Warwick Mall.
He was a lover of old movies and of all things Betty Grable. In his youth he would travel to New York for the theater and often spoke fondly of those memories. He was an avid reader especially enjoying biographies. He was a past member of the Italian American Historical Society and the Sons of Italy Loggia Vittoria # 585. Mr. Coppola was a very devoted parishioner of St. Mark Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, May 30, from 9:00 a,m. until 10:00 a.m. in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Garden Court, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
