Ann DeFante Obituary

Ann M. (Macera) DeFante, 63, of Cranston, passed away at Kent Hospital Friday, August 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John A. DeFante.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Mario A. and Anne M. (Sherman) Macera.

Ann, a loving mother, sister and daughter, is survived by her son Marc A. DeFante and companion Tiffany Pelcher, cherished grandchildren Anthony DeFante, Liliana DeFante, James Murray and Hannah Pelcher. She is also survived by two brothers; Mario A. Macera and his wife Lucille, Stephen M. Macera, three sisters; Linda Macera, Donna Macera, Judy Baccaire and husband John Baccaire. Ann leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Ann was employed by the State of Rhode Island at the Eleanor Slater Hospital as a food service supervisor since 1982. After retiring from this position of over 29 years, she went on to work at Walmart for over 10 years.

Ann was a great cook and will be famously remembered for her delicious meatballs. She loved her family, friends and pets, especially her favorite pet companion, goat “Teddy”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ann’s Visitation on Friday, August 22nd from 4-7p.m. in “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Assembly time for her Funeral Service on Saturday, August 23rd is 9:15 a.m. with her service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
