Angelina “Lee” (Prescutti) Carter, 96, of Cranston, RI passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, at Kent Hospital. She was a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Lee was born in Cranston to the late Domenic and Christina (Saccoccia) Prescutti on June 15, 1928. After graduating from St Xavier's High School, Lee met her husband the late Joseph F. Carter. They were married on October 12, 1949. Together they built their family home in Garden City and had seven children: Carol Carter-Corning (Daniel Corning), Mark Carter (Patricia Palmisciano), Michael Carter (Louise Deluca), Christopher Carter, Paul Carter (Nicklas Oldenburg), the late Joseph Carter Jr. and the late Jeffrey Carter. She is the grandmother of Grace Carter and Ian Carter.
Lee was a licensed hairdresser and worked for many years to help support her large family. She was an active member of St. Mark Church for more than seventy years.
Lee uplifted everyone around her, believed in the goodness of people, and always knew exactly what words of encouragement to offer. She loved her family dearly. She also loved to sing and dance and gathered her family and friends together to celebrate throughout her long life. After dinner, she would organize sing-alongs by the piano, playing an endless repertoire of songs “by ear.” When not behind the keyboard, she was on the dance floor. On frequent long walks around her beloved neighborhood, which she enjoyed into her 97th year, she would often sing and dance along the way. Lee’s light shone brightly for ninety-six years. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 20, from 11 am until 12 noon at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, where a memorial service will begin at noon. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the RI Community Food Bank, 600 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 02907.
