Alice (Joseph) St. John, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Stillwater Nursing Home in Greenville surrounded by her loving family.
She was the devoted wife to the late Harold F. St. John Jr. for 67 years together they had 5 children.
Born in Providence a daughter of the late John and Alice (Gonsalves) Joseph, she lived in Providence for many years, in Knightsville-Cranston for many years and recently moved to Scituate.
Alice worked many different jobs throughout her life, she worked in the jewelry industry with her mom at Trifari's, later she worked for Allen Jewelry. Alice also worked with her mother-in-law Mary St. John for the Industrial National Bank on the 25th floor in the Executive Dining room, also later on she worked at Fleet National Bank in the sorting room working with statements and invoices. Every place Alice worked she was loved and admired. She was always helping her co-workers, always going above and beyond.
Alice loved working alongside her husband Harold, he was blind in his right eye, and she was his side kick to help with driving, projects around the house, making puzzles, enjoying the garden, relaxing in the yard together, praying, traveling, and enjoying family. Alice was known to help a neighbor or friend with their toasters, windows, she loved fixing things and always had a solution.
She could sew anything, she made curtains, and costumes for the grandchildren, she was always helping someone. Alice was a woman of strong faith, when she was unable to attend Mass due to her fall, she watched the Mass on TV along with the Rosary and the Divine Mercy daily. She prayed for everyone and was filled with kindness, love, and the best heart. Alice's smile would light up a room. Harold had a great sense of humor and always made her laugh. Together they were the best.
She leaves sons Richard J. St. John of North Carolina, Harold F. St. John Ill (Rose) of Foster , her daughters, Ann Marie Carbone (Bobby) of Scituate , Alice M. Potter (Bill) of Foster and Elizabeth A. Cavallaro (Frank) of Cranston . Besides her children she is survived by her loving grandchildren, Harold F. St. John IV of Florida, Michael S. St. John of Alabama, Joseph St. John (fiancée Jasmine) of Maryland, Dionna M. Mansolillo (Matthew) of Johnston, Danielle Carbone of Scituate, Robert J. Carbone (Taylor) of North Scituate, Domenic J. Carbone of North Smithfield, William Potter (fiancée Amber) of Woonsocket and Ashley M. Potter of Pennsylvania.
Great Nana to: Kyrie St. John, Michael St. John and Trey St. John, Matteo and Aria Mansolillo and Baby Carbone due in July. She was the sister of Frank Sears and dear sister-in-law to Joan Sears, Annette Joseph, and Edward Perry. Also, sister to the late Rita Perry, John Joseph II and baby Clarence. She is loved and survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Alice’s family would like to thank Fr. Ledoux, Fr. Patrick, Fr. Ricard, Sr. Susan, Deacon Fernando and Chaplain Tyler for their spiritual support, and also wish to thank Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Cherry Hill Manor, Stillwater Nursing Home, and Eden Hospice for the loving care that their mother received from them.
Calling hours will be held from 8:30 - 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 12 at the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Rd, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
