Alfred Meloccaro Obituary

Alfred S. Meloccaro, of Cranston, passed away suddenly at home on December 29, 2025, at the age of 95.  He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Meloccaro for 67 years. Alfred was the loving father of Wendy Catalfamo and her husband John, John A. Meloccaro, Sr., and his wife Susan and Ronald Meloccaro. He was the grandfather of the late John A. Meloccaro, Jr., Stephanie McDougall and her husband Jason, Michael Catalfamo and his husband Matthew, and Joseph Catalfamo. He was the great-grandfather of Cameron Meloccaro, Mason Meloccaro, Liliana McDougall and Landon McDougall. He was predeceased by his brother Louis Meloccaro.

Born on June 19, 1930, in Cranston, Rhode Island, Alfred was the son of the late John B. and Angelina Meloccaro (Marandola). Alfred honorably served his country with the United States Army. Alfred was an owner of Edgewood Home Builders for almost 70 years. As a land developer, Alfred’s vision created many neighborhoods throughout Cranston and constructed well over five hundred homes

Alfred was a highly skilled master builder who was personally involved in every aspect of the land development process and homebuilding - from planning through sales. He was an old-school hands-on builder, not afraid of hard work, who could be found on any given day, framing a house, operating the dozer or building fine cabinetry.

Outside of work, Alfred loved cruising over to Denny’s on his moped at 5 A.M. for a “Grand Slam,” going out on his boat, spending time with his family and friends, pool parties, skiing, and dancing on Saturday nights.

Alfred truly was a thoughtful, generous and caring person. He was always more than willing to lend a helping hand and use his many talents, working tirelessly to help his family in any way he could. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alfred was a “man of few words,” but the words he said were more humorous than most. He was a great listener, and made you feel accepted for who you are. He was a kind, loving soul who will be greatly missed.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the devoted home health aides – Ophelia, Princess, Mayra, Bob, Caitlin and Tiffany – who cared for him with kindness, love, and respect. You are all truly special.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Saturday morning, Jan. 3, from 8am until 9am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery.
