Agnes B. Caito, 88, died on May 12 at Rhode Island Hospital after a two year illness.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of John B. and Margaret D’Amore Caito. She was the sister of Mary E. Caito with whom she lived her whole life. Agnes was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Salvatore, and Joseph Caito and her sisters Rose Lisi and Margaret Fabrizio. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who thought highly of her and were inspired by her many accomplishments.
In the early fifties, Agnes graduated from the Boston City School of Nursing. She became a nurse at Rhode Island Hospital, serving in supervisory positions in many departments. Eventually, she became Director of Nursing at Rhode Island Hospital. Later in her career she did private duty nursing and worked for the Providence VNA.
Agnes was passionate about sewing and quilting, and every member of the family received a handmade quilt in the colors of their choice. There was not a baby born who did not receive one of her quilts. She also loved to cook and dine out. As an active member of St. Gregory the Great Church in Warwick, Agnes was sad not to be able to attend mass for the last couple of years of her life. She especially enjoyed masses said by Fr. Ricci.
Calling hours will be held from 8 - 9:30 AM Tuesday, May 18 at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Gregory the Great Church, Cowesett Rd., Warwick.
