Adeline O'Gorman Obituary

Adeline (Petorelli) O’Gorman, 84, of Bagley Ave., Cranston, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Kent Hospital. Born June 24, 1938, in Providence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Pennacchia) Petorelli.

Adeline attended Assumption School and St. Xavier Academy in Providence, Class of 1956.

Adeline was a hard worker since her days in high school where she started at DelSesto Bakery. While pregnant with her first child, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Providence. When her children were of school age, she was a teaching assistant for many years in the Providence school system. She then went on to work with disabled youth and adults at RIARC and the Rhode Island Association of the Blind. She later went on to work until her retirement, for the State of Rhode Island, Office of Child Support, formerly known as the Bureau of Family Support, and RI Department of Human Services.

Adeline was the cherished mother of two daughters, Kathleen M. O’Connor and her husband John J. O’Connor III of Warwick, and Patricia A. O’Gorman of Cranston.  She was the loving grandmother of two grandchildren, Katelyn Elizabeth Tavares (Michael) of Cranston and Kerryan Eiley Blythe (Thomas) of West Warwick, and her two great grandchildren, Kailey Marie Tavares and Thomas John Blythe. She was adoringly referred to by "Grandma Addie" and "GG".

She was the devoted sister of Angela Manni, Patricia McDonough and the late Anna Gowan. Auntie Addie, as she was known by her nieces and nephews and her great-nieces and great-nephews, have fond memories of time spent with her.

Adeline enjoyed her scenic travels while she was retired on the Conway Bus Tours to many places including Mystic Village, the Rockettes in NYC, and various places in New England. She was a faithful Catholic who attended mass regularly at St. Mark's in Cranston. Her favorite pastime was being a morning walker at Warwick Mall and stopping in the stores to say hello to the employees who knew her by name.

Adeline, Addie, "GG" - will be missed but will forever live in the hearts and be the guardian angel of her family.

Her funeral will begin Friday, March 31, at 8:45am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mark’s Church, Cranston. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 30, at 4pm until 7pm in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
