Adele Jabour Obituary

Adele (Thomas) Jabour of Providence, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was the wife of the late Joseph Jabour. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Abraham) Thomas.

She attended Central High School’s business program and worked for A&P supermarkets until she met Joe, the love of her life. They devoted their marriage to rearing seven children with a warm home, good food and emphasis on education. They stressed values of honesty and hard work. Until she could no longer walk, she attended daily Mass. For many years she taught catechism to the neighborhood children of St. Mary’s parish in Providence. She was also entrusted to take the sacrament of Communion to those homebound neighbors. In addition, she took great pride in serving as campaign manager for her son Paul’s several political campaigns. She distributed flyers, worked at the polls and was a fierce advocate for her son’s candidacy.

After her children completed their college studies, Adele enrolled in Rhode Island College. Known as the “Mother of Seven”, she attained a bachelor’ degree in social welfare. She never worked for money but rather volunteered at nursing homes, senior centers, churches, and the like. She loved to travel and visited many countries and islands around the world. But mostly, she loved the ocean and could be found every Sunday during the summertime down Path 7 at Sachuest Beach in Middletown, R.I.

She is survived and will be sorely missed by her children: Mary Martha McLaughlin, RN,( late Dennis), Dr. Bernadette Jabour, Honorable Christine Jabour (Girard Visconti), Clare Jabour, Esquire-Sidman ( late Eric), Paul V. Jabour, Esquire, and Dr. Vincent Jabour (Josephina). Eight grandchildren, Andrew, Jonathan, Victoria, Vincent Jr., Chelsea, Joeph, Natalie-Jo and Tara, Seven great grandchildren, Ian, Caroline, Adele, Hannah, Henry, Vincent III, and Collette. She was the beloved mother of the late Natale Jabour, RN, CRNA.

In addition, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Anthony Thomas, Budio Thomas, Susan Abood, James Thomas, Mary Salem and Nancy V. Thomas.
